1. Choose your work tools wisely

The quality of the paint will always positively influence your work, from the finishes that you will have on the walls, to the drying time in your rooms. Choosing good quality painting tools will ensure better coverage of the surface to be painted, so we will save on paint, apart from achieving a better result.

Remember that cheap is expensive, choosing a better quality paint will yield much more in finishes and time, so you will finish the job in a shorter time and the expense will not damage your wallet to a great extent.

Also, if you choose the correct brushes or rollers, the result will be reflected in your walls, do not skimp on expenses, remember that it is always good to invest in your home.

2. Cover the spaces you don’t want to paint

To avoid annoying paint stains on the floor and even on the ceiling, place pieces of newspaper or plastic taped with masking tape in those spaces
that you don’t want to accidentally paint. The edges and contours that surround frames, windows and doors can be taped to allow the brush to pass without the risk of going over of the limit.

Remove all this protection when the paint is completely dry, you will avoid
traces of moisture and the paint will have a better finish along the trim cuts.

3. Paint like a pro

Before starting the application, make sure that the paint is diluted in the correct way.

Stir the cans as the instructions dictate, these will depend on the brand you are using, so you should make sure to always read and follow them as the can dictates.

Once the paint is well diluted, apply carefully to the clean surface, avoiding
splashing or dripping, be patient and slowly apply the amount that the brand indicates. If you buy a fairly solid line of coverage, you don’t need to apply several strokes in the same area so you don’t have too many unnecessary layers of paint and you will waste less.

4. Use your brush correctly

  • Insert the brush up to a third of the length of the bristles into the
    bucket or tray.
  • To outline an edge, use the narrow side of the brush. It is important to
    make long, slow strokes.
  • To avoid streaking paint, paint from the dry area to the fresh paint.
  • To paint flat surfaces, use the wide part of the brush.
  • To paint large surfaces with a brush, apply the paint with 2 or 3 strokes in diagonal. Then distribute evenly with horizontal strokes. Press it enough and smooth vertically from top to bottom.
  • Make movements first in a diagonal direction, then horizontally and finally vertically.

5. Apply magic to the roller

  • Always use the roller in small sections, always painting first dry surfaces to fresh paint.
  • Dampen the roller with water very slightly before starting to paint,
This will remove the texture of the roller and give a uniform finish.
  • With the roller loaded, use the application technique called “Z” or “N”,
by the drawing that shape with the roller on the material to be painted. In this way it adds the paint and then moves it to the rest of the surface, thus you will get a better finish.

6. Finish the task correctly

Once the task is done, clean the brushes and rollers with paint thinner, then
rinse them with water and ordinary soap. Once they are well cleaned, put them to dry for a moment.

Keep them wrapped in newspaper, this will serve to remove the remaining moisture.

Properly seal the paint cans. For greaterer durability, store them somewhere cool and dry, remember to store them in a previously designated space and keep them out of the reach of children.
